 # A heart of gold= kind-hearted

Example: My mom has a heart of gold.

# To be all fingers and thumb= to be clumsy

Example: Don't be all fingers and thumb. Otherwise, you will never be able to improve yourself.

# To have lump in the throat= to be very sad and about to cry.

Example: I had lump in my throat when I got the news of Meni's demise. 

# To bite one's tongue= to try hard not to express what one feels

Example: I tried my best to bite my tongue, but failed to do it finally.

# To throw someone a bone= to praise one for achieving something great

Example: Judy has thrown me a bone for my recent success.

# Tongue in cheek= in a mocking way

Example: Alexander Pope has represented the belles of the 18th century in a tongue in cheek manner in his masterpiece The Rape of the Lock.

# To pat on someone's back= to acknowledge someone for his work

Example: Judy always pats on her students' back for their enthusiasm.

# To cry heart out= to cry hard

Example: She cried heart out when she got the bad news.

# To pull one's leg= to tease someone

Example: Anik pulls Punam's leg just for having fun.

# To have head in the clouds= to remain reluctant to the happenings of the real world.

Example: Nobita has always his head in the clouds.

# By the skin of one's teeth= barely

Example: He didn't have a good preparation. So, he passed the exams by the skin of his teeth.

# To get off someone's back= to tell someone to stop criticizing others or interfering in the life of other people

Example: I have told C.K.P. to get off Anik's back.
