Organ Idioms, part:02


  

1) Break a leg= an alternative to wish "all the best"

Example: You will cut a great figure in the exam. Break a leg.

2) To keep someone/something at arm's length= to avoid

Example: I always want to keep them at my arm's length because they are not honest.

3) On the tip at someone's tongue= to be almost able to remember something but cannot do it finally

Example: The answer was on the tip at my tongue, but I couldn't tell it.

4) Elbow grease= to put a heavy effort

Example: We gave an elbow grease to accomplish the project successfully.

5) to give a heads up= to give an advanced warning

Example: Our teacher gave us a heads up about the Inspector's arrival.
